THERAPY WITH RHEN
I WORK WITH…
I work with young adults and women with a history of attachment trauma, emotional neglect, chronic stress, anxiety, and depression.
You may have felt like you have been in survival mode for a long time, finding it hard to be present in your life. Being in survival mode can feel like being stuck on high or low, or flipping between. You might feel irritable, hypervigilant, tired all the time, or find it hard to motivate. You may experience persistent shame, mistrust, and find it hard to reach out or connect, or just a belief that you are different from others.
You are not alone in this experience, and as we work together you will deepen your connection to your body and gain a sense of agency in your life.
MY APPROACHES INCLUDE…
I integrate multiple approaches to better address the complexity of being human. These include somatic, experiential, and cognitive modalities all grounded in attachment, psychodynamic, and anti-oppressive frameworks. To learn more about each of these please check out my Therapy Approaches.
My first goal when working with people is to create a genuinely warm, affirming, non-judgmental, and consensual relationship. From there we can begin to explore internalized core beliefs, narratives, and shame that may be perpetuating cycles of anxiety, doubt, and feeling stuck. We explore what strategies may support your body and mind in coming to a regulated and self compassionate state. We work to develop an understanding of the roles of various parts of self and find ways to support parts that hold bodily sensation, thoughts, and feelings connected to traumas. I bring in a variety of resources, both educational and experiential to supplement the time in session.
IN OUR TIME TOGETHER…
I know it can be hard to trust and you may have felt alone in these experiences for a long time, or maybe not recognized what they are or believe it can change. It is courageous to reach out and I am committed to working alongside you, at your pace, to help you on this journey.
Through our work together, you will better understand how your attachment experiences have impacted you, increase your connection to your body and emotions, and develop skills to regulate your nervous system. We will work together to decrease shame and address core beliefs that leave you feeling stuck. It is my hope that you will feel more self-compassionate and at ease in your experience. As you build trust in yourself this will allow you to feel more connected with yourself, others, and community.
