Safe and Sound Protocol
Who is this for?
You want to be able to better manage overwhelm and feel more present.
You want to learn more about your nervous system states.
You are working with a therapist or have done enough therapy to be resourced (not experiencing frequent crises). SSP can be a tremendous support alongside a variety of therapies.
You have a history of trauma, sensory sensitivities, chronic stress, anxiety, or depression.
You are not experiencing active suicidal ideations, psychosis, or an untreated TBI.
What will we do?
We will start with a pre-screening to ensure SSP if the right fit for you at this time. If it is, we will schedule a 60-minute intake session.
To learn more about you and your experience.
To learn more about the nervous system and SSP.
To collaboratively create your listening plan.
How long does this take?
It depends on:
Your level of need and presence of tools already in place.
Your ability to regularly listen, which can of course include unforeseen circumstances.
How your system responds to the listening.
With SSP, less is more. It is best to not rush or overload the system.
So, it’s unique to each individual. The shortest length of time is about 1 month. The length of listening sessions varies. During the assessment, we will collaboratively determine what your listening plan is and alter as needed.
What is needed?
A safe and quiet space to listen.
Resources and supports. This will look different for everyone.
Over the ear headphones (not buds). These should have the capacity to turn off noise cancellation.
Time to listen and meet with me at check-in points.
Access to the music. This will require you to download an app on your computer or phone.
What will this cost?
It depends on the pathway you take, given the circumstances mentioned above.
One pathway might look like:
Initial free consultation
Intake session - $200
Follow-up session after 1st round of listening: $180
Follow-up session after 2nd round of listening: $180
Monthly music access: $25/month
Regular email check-ins throughout the process
Minimum total is $585 (includes one month of music access, more than 1 month is usually desired).
Payments are due prior to sessions with cancellation and no-show policies applied
Receive 15% off when you pay in full

Why does focusing on the nervous system matter?
When your nervous system is stuck in a chronic state of fight, flight, and freeze the ability to regulate emotions and respond to daily life with ease is significantly impacted.
You may feel agitated, irritated, or easily startled. It may be hard to focus, things feel urgent, or you are sensitive to sounds.
This can be a sign of your system being rigid and not being able to shift between different states with flexibility and ease.
People tend to experience stimulus (anything we interact with in the environment) through the lens of our nervous system states. Fluctuating from chronic overdrive or shutdown can make it difficult to be present with ourselves and others in the way we would like. It’s also exhausting!
The Safe and Sound Protocol can be used along with psychotherapy to build up a sense of safety and flexibility in the nervous system. This becomes a platform to be able to build up your own repertoire of self-care and regulation.
Music in the Safe and Sound Protocol is engineered in a progressive manner to retune the vagus nerve. It is like a treadmill for your nervous system to reset from a sense of danger to increased safety.
